World Ocean Day: Catalyzing Action for Our Ocean and Climate!

It’s nearly World Ocean Day

A day to celebrate and acknowledge the importance of the ocean, its incredible biodiversity and its importance for the climate and weather. Although our oceans are currently facing threats like marine litter and ocean acidification, there are also a multitude individuals, schools and organisations out there who work towards healthier oceans.

World Ocean Day officially takes place on Saturday 8th June, but schools around the world will be celebrating on Friday 7th, and we hope you will take part!

To celebrate the work our Green-Schools have put into learning about and protecting our oceans, we have a brand new “Marine Ecosystem Game” resource to help you get started with your World Ocean Day festivities. You can also check out the “World Ocean Day for Schools” website, where you will find lots more information and activities to help you get involved in this important day, as well as the chance to take part in a live online assembly with schools around the world!

Are you celebrating World Ocean Day in your school? You can share pictures and videos with us on social media by tagging us @GreenSchoolsIre #WorldOceanDay

We wish you all a very happy World Ocean Day from the Green-Schools team!

Lá Domhanda na nAigéan sona daoibh go léir!
