After reviewing the very high quality water ambassadors reports submitted this year 2019/20 ambassadors were chosen in each region to be awarded a tablet.

Three water ambassadors have won a tablet for their work completed so far on the water ambassador programme 2019/20. The winners from each region are:

West/North: Margaret Nnadi, 2nd year from Dominican College Galway.

She studied a local lake, Lough Atalia and started a website about it, detailing the wildlife present at the lake, the problems it faces and it’s history. Margaret plans on sharing her website on social media and making a spark adobe video about the lake. https://5e2c190cbabc2.site123.me/

South: Anastasia Vakaloudi 2nd year from Scoil Mhuire Cork.

Anastasia carried out many activities as a water ambassador, some of which include; a quiz she prepared for Geography week and Earth Day and a presentation to give to other schools/classes and uniquely a water themed bake-off competition for climate action week.

East: Water Ambassadors at St. Louis Secondary School Dundalk (teacher to choose one ambassador to award)

They received the prize for the super efforts to communicate with the wider community on water related issues/Green-Schools/Water Ambassador programme, encourage water saving and improve their surrounding environment. For example, they were interviewed by local radio presenter Sinead Brassil from LMFM and local newspaper the Democrat, participated in a multiple school sustainability workshop, arranging a fashion and water workshop within their school and they carried out a local beach clean-up/fundraiser with donations going to an Australian wildlife charity.
