This year’s Walk to School Week runs from October 7th – 11th and we would love your school to get involved!
Walk to School Week promotes walking and encourages as many students as possible to walk or Park & Stride to school. Walking to school is one of the best ways to start the day with multiple benefits to children’s physical and mental health. Based on feedback we receive, those able to walk to school tend to arrive happier and more focused. What’s more, walking is great for the environment by reducing the number of cars at the school gate, reducing congestion, air pollution and road safety issues.
Walk to School Week Resources
To support schools, we have created a Walk to School Week resource pack containing fun activities, information and guidance on how to have a successful Walk to School Week at your school.
Our big focus for the week is National Walk to School Day on Wednesday October 9th and we are asking schools to participate by holding a special WOW (Walk on Wednesday). Our WOW guide includes everything you need to know to have an enjoyable and impactful day!
Please keep a record of how many students walk and Park & Stride on the day and upload your numbers here and submit before November 8th 2024. This data will be entered into a competition to find Ireland’s most active County! Please play your part and help to make this year’s Walk to School Week the best yet!

Make sure you get your WOW numbers in before the 23rd of October to be included in a draw where 5 lucky schools will be chosen for a prize of 100 euro towards your Green-Schools committee or a Walking celebration of your choice!
County Counts!
By keeping track of your WOW numbers and submitting them before the deadline, you not only get a chance to win a prize, but you also help put YOUR COUNTY on the LEADER BOARD.
