Green-Schools Marine team have been working on a very exciting project over the past few months, developing educational resources for the new children’s TV series “Where the Wild Geese Go”.
“Where the Wild Geese Go” is a 13-part animated documentary series from EZ Films. The series takes us on a thrilling adventure which follows the migration of the Light-Bellied Brent Goose from Irish coasts to Arctic Canada, and back again. Through the eyes of young ‘Goose Detectives’ and a dedicated team of scientists, viewers will embark on a journey to uncover the secrets of these amazing animals’ remarkable journey. Along the way, they’ll witness breathtaking landscapes and learn about diverse cultures, offering a unique perspective on the relationships between culture, conservation, and education.
In addition to the on-screen adventures, the project features an interactive website available at www.rte.ie/goose where young viewers can log in and become Goose Detectives themselves by solving puzzles, learning more and tracking the migration patterns of the geese – they can even submit their own brent goose sightings!
This interactive website (offered in English and Irish) offers a vast range of educational resources for teachers, parents, and students specially developed by the Green-Schools team. With lots of links to the Green-Schools programme and the Sustainable Development Goals, these resources are designed to complement the series and provide additional learning opportunities both in the classroom and at home. The resources are designed to support schools working toward their Green Flag award are especially relevant to the Green-Schools themes of Marine Environment, Biodiversity and Global Citizenship.
