We are delighted to launch the Green-Schools Water Poster & Video Competition 2026 to schools that have an active Green-Schools committee.
The theme of the competition this year is Water and Me / Mise agus Uisce.
Water and Me / Mise agus Uisce is an art competition inviting pupils to explore what water truly means to them – not just in a practical sense, but in a personal, emotional and imaginative way.
We want children and young people to reflect on the moments when water has mattered to them:
- times when it felt fun,
- times when it felt calming or refreshing,
- times when it helped them feel connected, adventurous or renewed,
- or memories that make water feel special in their own lives.
Each artwork should express an individual relationship with water. Teachers can use these questions as warm-up or brainstorming activities before students start creating:
- When you think of water, what is the first memory or story that comes to your mind?
- How does water make you feel?
- What does water sound like to you?
- Do you have a favourite place with water (a beach, pool, river, lake, puddle…)?
- What plants, animals, people do you think of when thinking about water in nature?
- If water were a character, animal or mood, what would it be?
