Mascot Design Competition
Theme: Create a Mascot Who Cares for the World!
Children are invited by the Green-Schools Global Citizenship Team to design a unique character that represents the values of global citizenship: kindness, fairness, respect for diversity, and caring for our planet. The mascot should be someone who helps people and the planet and inspires others to do the same!
Competition Outline
Who Can Enter:
Open to all primary school students
Purpose:
To design a mascot that represents the Green-Schools Global Citizenship Education team and helps promote the UN Global Goals for Sustainable Development (e.g. equality, peace, clean oceans, access to education).
The winning design will be turned into a mascot doll that will travel with the team to schools and events across the country!
Your Mission:
Design a mascot that:
- Shows how we can be good global citizens
- Promotes one or more of the Global Goals
- Is creative, colourful, and friendly!
- Has a name and a short story or superpower (e.g., “Pascal the Planet Protector stops plastic from reaching the ocean!”)
What to Submit:
- A drawing of your mascot (can be hand-drawn or digital)
- A short description (up to 100 words) of:
- Your mascot’s name
- What they do to help the world
- Which global goal(s) they care most about
Prize:
The winning design will be:
- Made into a mascot doll to represent the Green-Schools Global Citizenship Team
- Featured on Green Schools social media and materials
- The creator will receive a copy of the book Children of the World and a certificate!

28th of September 2025
How to Enter:
Entries should be submitted to the Global Citizenship Team – Birgit, Danson, David, Claire and Siobhan at globalcitizenship@eeu.antaisce.org and can be submitted as photographs, scanned images or video!
Tips for Teachers / Coordinators:
- Introduce the idea of global citizenship with a short class discussion (see short lesson plan outline)
- Explore the Global Goals in age-appropriate ways – check out the Green Schools Global Goals Book Club for inspiration!
- Encourage students to think about how small actions can have a big impact
