Monday 

Pondlife Webinar with GLOBE Ireland.

Learn about frogs, dragonflies and more life beneath the surface of a pond. Discover the many benefits of ponds that we might not always consider and hear from schools who have been investigating what they can add to their grounds to make a difference! Aimed at Senior Primary and Secondary Students

Tuesday 

11am- An Choill Bheag Webinar with LEAF Ireland.

We are delighted to have our colleagues from LEAF Ireland join this webinar to celebrate 5 years of the An Choill Bheag project- planting tiny forests. Learn lots of fun facts about forests and the wildlife that live in them! Aimed at Senior Primary and Secondary Students. 

Species of the day: Oak, Hazel, Birch, Rowan and Hawthorne Trees 

Wednesday 

11am-Biodiversity in Ireland Webinar.

Ricky Whelan, Offaly Biodiversity Officer will speak to us about Swifts in Ireland and Hannah Kindregan, An Taisce Climate Ambassador and Community Development Officer with Ballyhoura Development will discuss how trees and other biodiversity can help with the effects of climate change. Learn how your school can make a positive impact in this webinar. Aimed at senior primary and secondary students.

Thursday 

11am- What’s the buzz about Pollinators Webinar.

Join us for this exciting webinar with Kate Chandler, Communities and Engagement Pollinator Officer to learn all about the importance of bees and other pollinators in Ireland.  Aimed at Senior Primary and Secondary Students. 

Species of the day: Bees 

Friday 

11am- Junior Art Workshop with Green Schools Officer Rob Nelson.

Join us for this interactive art webinar to create your own habitat! You will need: Coloured card- (a variety of colours), Scissors, Prit stick (stick glue), Hole punch (optional), A circle to trace around ( a cup, Sellotape, jar lid etc). To add some animals to your habitat you can also try our origami bee and frog activities!

Focus of the day: Habitats and Food Webs  

Competition 

We will be hosting a competition throughout the week to see which school engages best with our Species of the Day! You will be in with a chance to win a Biodiversity Pack for your school if you email us pictures/tag us on social media of either: 

  • A species of the day that you have spotted 
  • A photo of your class taking part in one of the activities.
