Take our Interactive Quiz with your class. These quizzes are available in English and Irish. This online quiz can be done on the Whiteboard with the entire class. This will give you an idea of what your class already knows about your assigned species. It also has lots of short, fun videos to give an introduction to the plants and animals that you can watch as you go!
Check out our Habitat Heroes Cards. Each species has a Card with information about their life-cycle, what they eat, where they live and what they look like. You can choose to learn about all six of your Heroes or just one or two. At the moment our Habitat Heroes Cards are only available in English but we do have a Template Card in Irish so you can design your own!
The activity pack is designed to support you while learning about your Habitat Heroes. The activity pack is full of optional worksheets so you can pick and choose what works for your class. The activities are designed to encourage students and teachers to go outside and explore the school grounds as a habitat, keeping your Habitat Hero in mind. It includes a worksheet, where students can come up with their own Habitat Hero, (this could be a species you have noticed around the school grounds). Also included in the activity pack is an observation activity, a drawing activity, a sound mapping activity, and a web of life activity (some of these activities can take place in the classroom). In addition, there are ‘word search activities’ based around the new words students may learn related to their Habitat Heroes. We have also come up with a list of optional actions your school could take to increase biodiversity and help your chosen habitat heroes, as a separate resource.
