Global Classrooms

The international linking project began in late 2020 when Green-Schools joined forces with our colleagues and friends in Eco-Schools Kenya and Kenya Organisation for Environmental Education . The aim was co-creation of five workshops on five Global Goals: Goal 5: Gender Equality, Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, Goal 13: Climate Action, Goal 14: Life Below Water, and Goal 15: Life on Land. Each school in Ireland and Kenya participating in the project was required to take action on their assigned global goal, creating an environment of interconnected learning and a greater understanding of the things the students have in common and things that may be different It was a great success and a fantastic global learning opportunity.

Now accepting applications for 2023-24

Schools are now invited to apply for the Global Classrooms Project for this academic year. This is a wonderful opportunity for any school from 4th class upwards, working on any Global Citizenship theme, to engage in meaningful project work connected to the Global Goals.

The school year 2021/2022 has seen an expansion of the project and a new name “Global Classrooms”.  Two additional countries, South Africa and the U.A.E participated in the project . The Global Classrooms project included a launch event in November 2021, delivery of global goals workshops to 27 schools in Ireland and 1 school in Dubai delivered by Green-Schools staff and workshops delivered in all other countries by Eco-Schools Kenya (KOEE) and Eco-Schools South Africa ( WESSA).

A week long learning festival about the global goals (SDGs) was held in early May 2022, which included one day of communication and exchange of information between the students, and culminated in a final event of sharing their learnings at the end of June 2022.
