We are delighted to launch the Green-Schools Marine Spatial Planning Poster Competition 2024.
The aim of this competition is to find out how the students of Ireland would like to see our ocean and marine environments being used in the future. How do you think our oceans should be used in the future? Do you envision more recreation – more swimming, paddleboarding and kayaking? Do you think we should harness the ocean’s energy and create electricity from waves? Do you think we need more protection of our marine biodiversity? Should there be more fishing, using bigger boats, or less fishing, and smaller boats? Include things that you feel are important to our oceans, like coastal communities, protected areas for animals to live in, and ways of tackling marine litter. We want to hear from you!
This competition is open to primary and secondary schools working on the Global Citizenship Marine Environment theme in the 2024 – 2025 academic year, and those that have achieved their Marine flag already.
Under the theme “You, Me and Our Future Seas”, we are inviting individual students to enter a poster competition. There are four age categories: Junior Primary (Junior Infants – 2nd class), Senior Primary (3rd –6th class) and Secondary School (1st – 6th Year) and regional winners as well as national winners will be selected. Each student may enter one A3 sized poster. Original poster entries must be posted to: Green-Schools Marine Competition, An Taisce, 5 Foster Place, Temple Bar, Dublin 2, D02V0P9. Entries must be received by Friday, 22nd November 2024 and there are some fantastic prizes to be won, including One4All vouchers, a hotel stay the night before the awards ceremony, and more!
All entries must contain the entrant’s details and school contact details printed clearly on the back of each poster – please read the full Terms & Conditions enclosed for details on how to enter. If you have any questions related to competition, please contact marine@greenschoolsireland.org or phone 0871861242.
Don’t forget to share your school’s poster ideas and inspiration with @GreenSchoolsIre using #OurFutureSeas on Twitter, Instagram and TikTok. We hope you enjoy taking part in the competition and look forward to receiving your entries!
