Thank you to all the schools who have been submitting their applications to us over the last few months. We know there are still some schools who were waiting to access information on site and we will work with those schools to ensure your work is rewarded whenever possible over the coming months. However, we know there are a lot of anxious students and teachers all over the country who were waiting to hear from us so make sure you check your email for a special message from Green-Schools!

We would like to sincerely congratulate all the schools who have achieved their first Green Flag, or renewed their Green Flag this academic year. We have been overwhelmed by the high standard and inspired by the positive actions taking place all over the country. We are so grateful to all the coordinating teachers and students who have worked so hard over the last two years creating sustainable environments in their schools.

We are delighted to announce that 720 schools (so far!) will receive Green Flags this year. Once schools re-open we will get your flags to you so you can celebrate this fantastic achievement.

For now, as we are not in a position to hold our usual Green-Schools Awards, we will be celebrating over on our social media channels a little later this month so please keep an eye out for more details there. Thank you to all the teachers, students, care-takers, principals, secretaries and all involved in school life who have contributed to the programme.

Sincere thanks also to our Local Authority partners, and the support of the Department of Climate Action, Communications and Environment, Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport, The National Transport Authority, Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government, National Parks and Wildlife Service, Irish Aid, Irish Water, Clothes Pod and the Wrigley Company.
