Walk to School Week 2018
Schools across Ireland are invited to celebrate National Walk to School Week 2018, which takes place from Monday May 14th to Friday, May 18th.
An Taisce Green-Schools’ National Walk to School Week is a country-wide initiative which will result in thousands of pupils, their parents and teachers walking to and from school, to celebrate the environmental, health, social and financial benefits of active travel on the school journey. This is the tenth year Green-Schools has run National Walk to School Week, which will be promoted to over 2000 participating schools!
National WOW Day
Building on the success of last year’s National Walk to School Week ’17, Green-Schools hopes that schools will help achieve the target of 20,000 pupils walking to school all over Ireland on National WOW (Walk On Wednesday) Day on May 16th. Last year over 35,000 students, in schools registered with Green-Schools, walked all or part of the way to school.
We’ll have downloadable posters here soon for you to spread the word about Walk to School Week in your school.
Tell us what you did to celebrate National Walk to School Week 2018. Keep a record of how many people walked to school on National WOW Day – Wednesday 16th May and help us reach the goal of 20,000 or more people walking to school on that day! Remember to take photos of your events and get in touch with your local Green-Schools Travel Education Officer with your information.
