Join Green-Schools, our #andshecycles Ambassadors and besties all over Ireland for a day of celebrating cycling on Thursday, July 22. We want everyone to celebrate the joys of cycling on July 22, especially teenage girls and young people. We will be joined by some of this year’s group of #andshecycles Ambassadors and members of the Green-Schools #andshecycles Team for a national day biking with our besties!

How to take part

Get on your bike! While we can’t gather en masse for a cycle we want you to grab your bestie and get out on your bike for a cycle. We’ll be sharing everyone’s cycles on social media so be sure to tag us in a photo: of your views, your bike or you and your bestie.

We’ll have some spot prizes of Fuji Instax Cameras up for grabs for anyone who tags us and uses #andshecycles on social media on the day! Everyone is welcome to take part – we want to make cycling as inclusive as possible!

Switch up the stock image

We want our #andshecycles event to switch up the stock image – the image you might usually see of young women on bikes. We use bikes every day, not just on holidays, not just for sport and not just on the beach! We want our day of Biking with your Bestie to reflect the reality of cycling for young people in Ireland; join us in switching up the stock image!

Instagram Competition: Win a BIKE

While we know that there can be many, varied, barriers to teen girls when they want to cycle one of the biggest is the lack of a suitable bike. In the run up to our event on July 22 we are giving a bike away through a competition on our Instagram page. Simply follow us on Instagram, like our post and comment – tagging your bestie – to enter the competition. Entries close on July 21 at midnight and we’ll announce the winner during Bike with your Bestie on July 22.
