#ProtectOurDunes is a public campaign highlighting the importance of coastal sand dunes in Ireland. They provide protection from ocean storms surges and high seas and are important for biodiversity. Did you know the common lizard, Ireland’s only reptile, can often be found in sand dunes?

Unfortunately, our interaction with dunes can result in erosion and the loss of sand. This summer we are asking the public to respect and protect these fragile landforms by not walking or carrying out any other recreational activities in them.

To help you and your students learn more about how you can ‘Protect Our Dunes’, check out our new resource at the link below. This resource has been developed by Green-Schools and Clean Coasts. #ProtectOurDunes is a campaign coordinated by CARO.
