A review of the fourth year of the national roll-out of Green-Schools Travel demonstrates that the programme continues to be a success in changing the behaviour and attitudes of participating schools in relation to school travel. In accomplishing this, the programme has achieved targets set in terms of reducing car-based travel to and from school, while increasing the number of pupils travelling to school by sustainable modes of transport.

hugely successful in changing the behaviour and attitudes of participating schools in relation to school
travel. In accomplishing this, the programme has surpassed targets established and achieved tangible
results in terms of reducing car-based travel to and from school, while increasing the number of pupils
travelling to school by sustainable modes of transport.
This report outlines the results of the research undertaken by An Taisce into the performance of the Green-Schools programme in Ireland. The research took place during year 4 of the programme in Ireland (September 2000-June 2001).
