Composting

compost

A large percentage of school waste is composed of organic material. Compost forms as a result of the natural breakdown of organic material such as vegetable peels and cut grass. Making your own compost heap or using a compost bin speeds up the process under controlled conditions and the finished product can be used as a soil condioner or surface mulch.

What can be composted?

  • Fruit and Vegetable Skins and Peelings

  • Coffee Grounds and Teabags

  • Pencil Parings

  • Leaves, Twigs and Grass Cuttings

  • Non-recycable Paper
